Follow up to previous post... Anyone have any recommendations for a good online news source? I have heard support for BBC, as well as for nytimes. What I would really love is something like the first few pages of the print edition of the Economist, where they just give you a paragraph about all of the major things that are going on in the world. That would be ideal. Ping me if you have any suggestions.

News is so pathetic these days. On the front page of CNN.com right now is "Plane carrying JonBenet Ramsey slaying suspect John Mark Karr from California lands in Boulder, Colorado."

How is that news?!?! A guy who is suspected of a single murder from 10 years ago lands on a runway?! How many murders are there a year in this country... in the world... Why is this one so special, other than that it was of a really cute girl? Why is this dude's landing of a plane of any importance what-so-ever.

Worthy of the news (from BBC):
- President Jacques Chirac pledges an extra 1,600 French troops to the UN force in Lebanon.
- The past month has witnessed the worst violence in Sri Lanka since the 2002 ceasefire between the government and Tamil Tiger rebels.
- Astronomers have voted to strip Pluto of its status as a planet.
- Computer giant Apple is recalling 1.8m batteries used in its laptop computers worldwide after overheating complaints.
etc.

Ug. May be time to switch away from CNN.com - various people have been telling me to do this for months now.

Summer is nearing an end. It is getting rather chilly in the city.

So... I got a $35 parking ticket today for parking in a spot that was market as no parking on Tuesdays. However, such a sign did not exist anywhere on the entire block. I went through the trouble of taking photos of the entire block to be able to prove it in a court of law, but then came to the realization that it would not be an effecient use of my time to go to court over the ticket. So, essentially, it turns out it makes more sense for me to admit guilt for something that I am not guilty of, than to deal with it in the appropriate manor. Kinda a bummer of a situation.

I just saw a really amazing hologram display. Sounds like moving holograms may only be a couple years out.

Why are subway tunnels cylinders?

Someone just tried to jack a a bike off the back of our shuttle when we were stopped at a red light. Insanity.
